Gicumbi urged to become a hub for technology as #TwagiyeKashiresi Campaign reaches Third Edition

As the third edition of the #TwagiyeKashiresi campaign was launched in Gicumbi District, aimed at encouraging citizens to embrace digital payments and technology-enabled services, residents were urged to work together to make Gicumbi “a hub that embraces and drives technology.”

Addressing participants during the campaign, Gicumbi District Vice Mayor in Charge of Economic Development, Madam Uwera Parfaite, called on residents to play an active role in transforming their district into “a hub for technology.”

She said Gicumbi should not only be known as a historic hub of Rwanda’s liberation struggle, but should also emerge as a centre of development driven by technology.

“Gicumbi should not only be remembered as a hub of Rwanda’s liberation; it should also become a hub that embraces and advances technology.”

Madam Uwera emphasized that the use of technology for payments and access to services is a key foundation for rapid, secure and sustainable development. She called on citizens and all stakeholders in the district’s development to contribute to promoting the use of technology in their daily activities.

Messages delivered during the campaign highlighted that #TwagiyeKashiresi seeks to encourage citizens to shift towards digital means of making and receiving payments, with the aim of facilitating business transactions and expanding access to and use of financial services.

During this third edition, citizens were encouraged to further integrate digital payment solutions into their everyday activities.

The District leadership considers digital payments not merely as a convenient way of transferring money, but also as an important driver of a faster, safer and more inclusive economy.

Madam Uwera called on everyone to play their part in this journey, with the ambition of making Gicumbi “a district of technology and opportunities for all.”

This vision seeks to connect Gicumbi’s historic legacy with its development aspirations for the future transforming the district from a hub of Rwanda’s liberation into a hub that embraces and drives technology.
